Editor, Journal of Psychosocial Nursing & Mental Health Services
Shirley Smoyak, a psychiatric nurse, health care sociologist and Professor of Public Health, is a member of the Rutgers University Office of Continuous Education & Outreach and the Rutgers Institute for Health, Health Care Policy and Aging Research. She is a faculty member in the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, School of Public Health, Health Systems & Policy Division. She has taught, in her 46 years at Rutgers, courses in mental health and illness, psychiatric and mental health nursing, family dynamics, health care administration, culture and health and qualitative research methods. Dr. Smoyak has been Editor of the Journal of Psychosocial Nursing and Mental Health Services since 1981, and is the author of several books, many refereed journal articles, chapters, monographs and videotapes. She has lectured or been a guest professor in 46 of the United States and 14 countries. Dr. Smoyak chairs the court-appointed Doe v. Klein Monitoring Committee, which oversees Greystone Park Psychiatric Hospital, Morris Plains, NJ.

Mark Ware, Mark Ware Consulting
Mark Ware is a publishing and e-learning consultant working with learned society and commercial publishers. Mark specialises in helping publishers define and implement growth strategies involving the application of new media technologies to the STM and business publishing markets. He also frequently works with learned societies to help them review their third-party publishing arrangement. Prior to establishing his own consulting practice in 2003, his most recent positions were Director, Ingenta CPD (a new professional e-learning division of Ingenta); Executive Director of the Healthcare division of CMP Information; and Publishing Director, IOP Publishing. Member of the Institute of Management Consultancy and a Fellow of the Institute of Physics.
Jennifer Kilpatrick, ELS, Editorial Director, Slack Incorporated
Jennifer Kilpatrick has worked for SLACK Incorporated for 20 years. Previously Managing and Executive Editor for several health care publications. Board-certified as an editor in the life sciences. From 1995-2005 was Editorial Director, JournalsDepartment. Currently, Editorial Director, Health Care Books and Journals, over-seeing 10 nursing, medical and allied health peer-review journals. Member of the Council of Science Editors, Society for Scholarly Publishing, Society of National Association Publications, American Society of Business Publication Editors, and the American Society of Healthcare Publication Editors.
Guy DiRoma, Project Manager, RapidReview (Cadmus Communications)
Guy DiRoma has worked in the international publishing industry for the past 25 years as a Production, Business, IT and Project Manager. As a Project Manager for RapidReview, Cadmus’ web-based peer-review system, Guy has worked with a variety of scientific, medical and technology journals to manage the implementation of their RapidReview systems and provide customized in-depth training and ongoing support. Guy focuses on building strong collaborative relationships with each of his customers to fully understand their unique editorial workflows and peer-review needs.
David Thomas, European Sales Manager, Manuscript Central (Scholar One)
David Thomas is the European Sales Manager for ScholarOne Inc. and is based in London. He has over 20 years’ experience working for global publishing and information companies in the US, Asia, Australia and UK/Europe.
Brian Lewis, Editorial Manager (Aries)
With 40+ years in the information industry, Brian has spent the last 30 years in the publishing area involved with learned journals and, in particular, the peer-review process. He was IT Manager at Blackwell Publishing for 12 years, where he developed the world’s first generic manuscript tracking system, used in 30+ journal offices. He worked for RCP Consultants for 12 years as Director of their Publishing Division, responsible for the specification, design, development, marketing and management of two publishing software packages (RMTS and RPTS) that became market leaders with over 2000 users in 32 countries. For the past 5 years Brian has been the UK and European Representative for Aries Systems and their product, Editorial Manager.
