Accomplishment: Launching Diversity in Health and Social Care and the quality of what we are starting to produce. Facilitating new writers.

Best: Meeting such interesting people and the privilege of reading their papers before anyone else.

Worst: Especially with new writers, I have to edit some text.

Amusing: This is from a long time ago. The journal that I edited depended heavily on the sale of advertising space. For a particular issue, space had been sold to manufacturers of operating theatre equipment. We were short of copy, so I went home and wrote an article on theatre nursing relating to theoretical ideas about nursing. To my complete surprise, it touched a chord and people showed a lot of interest. I was even invited to speak at national conferences about my ideas.

The irony was that, during my nurse training, I had to take the obligatory 8 week experience and hated every single minute. I made sure that I would never have to go back there.

If not editor?: Be looking for an editor’s job. Somehow, it really feels like me.

Relax?: Dry white wine, detective fiction, gardening, walking, renovating my house.
