Nancy Giraud, PhD, RN, FAAN Editor-in-Chief, AORN Journal, start 2003 Prior Editor’s Position: Editor, Seminars in Perioperative Nursing, 1994-2002 Years as Editor: Since 1994 Years in INANE: Since 1998 Other Position: Associate Professor and Chair, Department of Acute Nursing Care, University of Texas Health Science Center, School of Nursing, San Antonio, Texas Accomplishment: I have had many great moments, but I think the one I am most proud of hasn’t occurred yet. Best: Seeing the joy in a new author I have mentored when he or she sees the work in print for the first time.Worst: Never having a break from reading and always having to hit a time line. Amusing: I was writing an editorial about a nurse who assisted in the community. I misspelled "whose" and this was caught by the spell-checker. But I didn’t check the suggestion, and "whore" was the word I read on the galley proof. Lesson learned: Never trust your spell checker. 3 words: Enthusiastic, energetic, caring Strangest request: "Here’s an outline for my article. Please write it and send to me for review and approval." If not editor?: Write science fiction Relax?: Reading, playing with my animals, movies, computer games, being outside |
