Harriet Van Ess Coeling, PhD, RN, CNS Editor-in-chief, Online Journal of Issues in Nursing (OJIN) (July, 1998) Prior Editor Position: Assistant Editor, OJIN, 1996-1998 Years as Editor: Editor since 1995; Assistant Editor since 2002 Years in INANE: Since 2001 Accomplishment: The Online Journal of Issues in Nursing was nursing’s first free, totally online nursing journal and the first totally online journal to be indexed in Medline. Best: The privilege of working with so many excellent nurses, nursing leaders, nursing educators, nursing researchers, nursing students and nursing clinicians, seeing them share their insights and ideas in print for the benefit of thousands of nurses, other healthcare professionals and especially the patients nursing serves. Worst: Meeting the deadlines for going "to press/posting" and authors who promise something before the deadline and just don’t come through with the item. Amusing: I get the best laughs from readers requesting me to write their school papers for them, adding that the paper is due the next day, so please submit the paper to them within 24 hours. 3 words: Persistent, knowledgeable, supportive Strangest request: Asking if I would write the article for her if she gave me her notes. If not editor?: If not an editor I would like to spend more time traveling internationally and enjoying our children and grandchildren Relax?: Swim, walk, travel to new places and read (yes, read). |
