Former nursing administrator for over 20 years while being editor of NAQ, Last one KFSHRC, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, 1987 to 1991 Accomplishment: Having created and being the Editor-in-Chief of Nursing Administration Quarterly for 33 plus years. Writing about my daughter's illness and caring for her until she died in my home last July of cancer of the esophagus. ( See two Caring issues of NAQ Vol. 32: 1 and 2) Best: Mentoring others to be editors as I use issue editors since 1987 when I was based in Saudi Arabia for four years Worst: The buck stops here. So I do all rejects and do not have others write those. Also, if an issue is coming up short, I help contact people to write, but most issue editors are on top of each issue. Amusing: Once an author called to ask if the manuscript was accepted, and I replied a final decision had not been made as peer review process was not completed. The author asked if I could accept anyway because she was up for tenure.I replied, NAQ does not exist for your tenure and has to hold to it's principles." She asked if I could make an exception." Sorry!". 3 words: Caring, supportive, and knowledgable Strangest request: Stated above If not editor?: Retire completely and ski more and golf more and play mpore and travel. Relax?: Ski, swim, water aerobics almost daily, golf. symphony events, book club ( novels and discussion) family ( I have six children, 14 grandchildren, and two greatsons.)I ski with all my family at my home in Winter Park, Colorado. French club, cooking and entertaining. Volunteer ski instructor with NSCD for nine years and now am training to be a CASA in Arizona. |
