Policy for content on INANE website
An ad hoc committee (with a term of 2 years) was formed to develop guidelines for assessing what is appropriate content for the INANE website. Committee chair is Peggy Chinn (peggy.chinn@uconn.edu) with volunteer members Judith Baggs and Leslie Nicoll. Additional volunteers added by Peggy were Wendy Budin, Margaret Freda, Mona Shattell, Suzanne Smith, Shirley Smoyak, and Jan Stichler.
Issues to address include what shall be posted, time plan for removing old posted items, and timing for posting of items (frequency of changes). Minimal costs to change the web site are $35.00 USD (25.54 EUR) per hour.
Committee progress will be communicated through the listserv, with a summary report being given at the 2009 Chicago meeting. Continuation of the committee will be assessed at that time.
Who's Who
Wendy Budin (Wendy.Budin@nyumc.org) volunteered to maintain and update the listserv's Who's Who of Editors. She will compile needed editor photo and brief biographic statement as well as journal image file.
Listserv
Shirley Smoyak, who manages the INANE listserv and Web site (www.nursingeditors.org), reported that there are now 251 members on the listserv. The members in attendance acknowledged Shirley's work and commitment to managing the listserv and the Web site.
Collaborative Project
Shawn Kennedy reported that Diana Mason, Editor-in-Chief of American Journal of Nursing (AJN), is part of a group of 25 journal editors publishing quality improvement projects. AJN is doing "state of the science" projects and is currently working with orthopedics journal on hazards of immobility and other topics. Purpose if to identify knowledge gaps and set up a research agenda. Summaries are available. Contact Shawn (shawn.Kennedy@wolterskluwer.com) or Diana (Diana.Mason@wolterskluwer.com) for further information.
ISI
Margaret Freda handed out lists of the journals indexed by ISI. There were 37 in 2005. The number currently is up to 61 for 2007. Margaret reported said that the push for more nursing journals to be indexed in ISI is still on. She will continue to stay in touch with ISI. Thanks to Margaret for her commitment to bring visibility to the impact of nursing journals in healthcare.
Missing Editors
Shake Ketefian encouraged those in attendance to make a concerted effort to inform editors of nursing journals, especially those in non-North American countries, about INANE, providing them with the INANE web site address and encouraging them to join the listserv.
Remembrance Book
Vicki Conn (conn@missouri.edu) is compiling notes from INANE members that can be sent to Pamela Brink, founder and former editor of the Western Journal of Nursing Research, and long time INANE member. Vicki will compile the remembrances from members and then print and bind/group them for Pam. Please send your notes to Vicki.
